Former Arsenal, Liverpool & England star visits Mencap Liverpool drop-in

“A great experience” said Michael Thomas

Former Arsenal, Liverpool and England star Michael Thomas made a surprise visit to weekly drop-in sessions held by Mencap Liverpool recently to help raise awareness of their work.

Thomas, now an ever-present with who manage the former Liverpool Players Association tours and events, (the brainchild of Rafa Benitez) received a warm welcome especially from Evertonians!

Best known for the goal that was included in One Hundred Great Sporting Moments and voted recently as the most dramatic finish to a Premier league season (not sure Man City fans voted for that!), Thomas commented on how important the work of Mencap Liverpool is for its members.

He said: “It was great to be in the room and experience the conversations and support that people receive from Mencap Liverpool. Every year, they enable thousands of people to live better lives.”

Mencap Liverpool is a local learning disability charity based in Liverpool
